Custom Gasket Drawing & Drafting

No drawing? No problem. Send us a sketch, a few dimensions, a sample, or the old part itself, and we'll turn it into a manufacturing-ready drawing. You keep the DXF, and the work is priced on the time it takes, at a flat $100 an hour.

The Process

From What You Have to a Finished Drawing

Send us whatever you've got, from a clear sketch to the worn part itself, and we'll turn it into a manufacturing-ready drawing.

1

You send what you have

A rough sketch, a sample, a photo, or the old part itself. Whatever you've got to hand is enough to get us started.

2

We draw it up

We build a clean, parametric drawing of the part and check it carefully before it goes anywhere near a cutter.

3

You get the drawing

The DXF is yours at no extra charge, ready to cut here with us or anywhere else you like.

Pricing

How the Fee Works

$100 an hour, flat excl. GST

We price drafting on the time it takes. Think of the figure on your quote as a ceiling. If the drawing comes together faster, you only pay for the time we use. There's a half-hour minimum, which covers a simple drawing where the dimensions are already there, along with the checking and document control behind every drawing we release. The DXF is yours at no extra charge.

On larger production runs the drafting is a small part of the job, so we'll usually bring the fee down, and on the big ones we'll often drop it altogether.

What Affects the Time

Clearer In, Quicker Out

How long a drawing takes really depends on the part and on what you give us to work from. Most of what lands on the bench is workable, even when the sketch isn't neat. What slows us down is a photo taken at an angle, or a couple of dimensions that don't quite add up. We estimate it up front, so you know before we start.

Quicker

A part with its key dimensions and tolerances marked up. We redraw it cleanly, check it, and you're away.

Longer

A not-to-scale sketch with a few numbers missing. We measure, make careful assumptions, and check back with you, so it takes longer even when the part is simple.

Accuracy

When the Information Is Thin

When the starting information is open to interpretation, we don't guess and hope. We'll get your sign-off on the drawing before anything is cut, or run a quick paper test-cut you can offer up for a trial fit.

Because we draw everything parametrically, nudging a dimension later is part of the service. A bigger change to the geometry might mean some redrawing, which we'll price and clear with you first.

Got a Part but No Drawing?

Send us what you have and we'll sort out the drawing, then come back with a price and a timeframe before we start anything. You keep the DXF, and on larger orders the drafting fee usually drops or disappears.

  • Flat $100 an hour, and the quote is the most you'll pay
  • You keep the DXF, at no extra charge
  • We draw from sketches, samples, photos, or the worn part
