Reverse Engineering
We capture 2D surface geometry from a single photograph using our in-house planar optical measurement system — typical turnaround 2–5 business days from part to cut-ready file (depending on complexity and material), with sub-millimetre measurement accuracy at calibrated scale.
The Problem
No drawings. No CAD files. Just a worn-out component and a production line that can't wait. When the original gasket is long gone and the OEM has no records, that's where we come in.
Optical Capture
A single photograph of the mating face captures the geometry on most flat gasket faces. Send us the part, or we come to you — our system is portable and calibrates in-situ, so we can work on built-in components and large assemblies.
Geometry Extraction
We load the image into our measurement platform, calibrate the scale, and extract the full gasket profile digitally. What took hours with calipers and templates now takes minutes on screen.
Manufacturing
We turn the extracted dimensions into a precision cutting file, ready for our CNC bed. From digital profile to finished gasket — reproduced from the original geometry.
Perfect Fit
From a component with no documentation to a precision-cut gasket — matched to the original geometry, ready for installation.
How It Works
Our planar optical measurement system captures full 2D geometry from a single photograph.
Photograph
We capture the mating face or gasket profile with a single calibrated photograph. No special fixturing or clean-room setup — just a clear shot of the surface.
Extract
Our software digitises the full 2D profile and extracts every dimension — outer boundary, bore, bolt holes, and any irregular features.
Verify
We cross-check dimensions against the original part. For in-situ measurements where we don't have the part on hand, we can provide sample cuts or paper templates for size verification before final production.
Manufacture
We produce a DXF cutting file from the captured geometry — straight to our CNC bed, or handed over as DXF/DWG if you want to cut elsewhere.
We Come to You
Our measurement system is portable. We can come to your site for on-location capture — no need to remove the component or transport heavy assemblies.
On-Site Scale Referencing
A portable scale target placed on the gasket plane provides the dimensional reference. Suitable for accessible flange faces with clear line-of-sight to the full mating area.
Built-In Components
Ideal for components that can't be removed — pump housings, valve bodies, large assemblies, and installed equipment.
Damaged or Worn Parts
In practice, the parts we get back from site are usually corroded, distorted, or worn around the bolt holes. We use guided extraction so the resulting profile reflects the original spec, not the current damage.
Why This Approach
Speed
A single photograph replaces hours of manual measurement with calipers and cardboard templates.
Accuracy
Digital extraction eliminates the transcription errors inherent in manual measure-sketch-redraw workflows.
Flexibility
Works on-site, on damaged parts, on most flat gasket geometries — without special facility conditions.
Common Applications
Custom Gasket Reproduction
Legacy equipment with no surviving documentation — we capture what exists and reproduce it faithfully.
Industrial Equipment
Pump housings, valve bodies, heat exchangers, custom flanges — any component with a flat gasket surface.
Emergency Breakdown
Production can't wait for weeks of manual measurement. Our process gets you from worn part to replacement gasket fast.
Obsolete Profiles
One-off or discontinued gasket profiles that can't be reordered from the original manufacturer.
Behind the Process
Measurement Guide
The dimensional principles behind planar optical capture — how flange faces are characterised and what we extract from a single photograph.
Manufacturing Tolerances
DIN 7715-5 and ISO 2768-1 tolerance bands that govern the precision of cut parts produced from reverse-engineered geometry.
Standard Dimensions
When the original part maps to an AS, ASME, or DIN flange, we cross-reference against standard tables — often the fastest route to a finished gasket.
